May News
THANK YOU!
Parents, I want to take an opportunity to thank you for such a fun, productive year! This group is beyond AMAZING and I am truly having a hard time thinking about passing them on. I keep telling them they will just be forced to stay with me another year (I don’t think they like the idea of repeating 4th grade…). This group has taught me so much and I really feel fortunate to have spent the year with them. You have all been so supportive in so many ways- thank you so much for everything you have done to help these children grow in 4th grade! Even though our time is coming to a close, please remember they will always be “my kids”. :) I am here for them (and you) as they continue to grow and learn in their future years.
SBAC (State) Testing
The students will be participating in state testing the week of May 6th. We will be testing each day except Thursday, when we will be taking a field trip to the Mission Museum.
PLEASE be sure that your child gets to bed at a good time, eats a healthy breakfast before school, and brings a healthy snack and lunch. PLEASE make sure your child is at school this week on time, with no early pick-ups. Absences during this week require your child to complete make-up testing with a different group and test proctor.
Mission Museum Field Trip
Our last trip of the year is on Thursday, May 9th. We will be leaving school at 9:00 to arrive at the museum by 10:00. We will participate in a tour and scavenger hunt activity from 10:00-12:00. Lunch will be at the picnic tables, outside the museum. We will leave the museum by 12:30, to arrive back to school by 1:30. Thank you to the parents who have volunteered to join us. I will be sending you an email with more details early that week.
Open House
Please join us for our Open House (stay tuned for specific times) on Thursday, May 16th. The students will have an opportunity to show off some of their recent work around our classroom.
Last Week of School
Please be sure your child has a backpack each day this week. I will be slowly sending home books, work, supplies, etc. Please see the breakdown of our daily activities.
Monday, May 27th- No School, Memorial Day
Tuesday, May 28th- 4th Grade Passport Day- Students will sign up to visit different fourth grade classrooms to participate in a variety of themed activities.
Wednesday, May 29th- Auction Day- Students will use their leftover DOJO points to “buy” items at our class auction. Parents, this is a great opportunity for you to spring clean! Please consider donating gently used books, decor items, gently used toys & games, etc. Your trash will be their treasure. :) Items can be sent in anytime between now and auction day!
Thursday, May 30th- Board Game Day- Students are welcome to bring in board and card games from home to play with each other. Please, no devices- this is a day for ACTUAL interaction.
Friday, May 31st- End-of-Year Ice Cream Celebration- 1:30-2:05 at the outdoor tables. Students will be dismissed from the outdoor tables. I will email a sign-up as we get closer, if you would like to help with ice cream and toppings. PLEASE JOIN US for this party!
